Mark played singles and made a solid start, taking 4 on the first end. Hook replied with 3 on the second and 2 on the third. Mark took another 3 on the fourth but Hook were now commanding play and took the next seven ends with 14 shots. Mark finished the game with 3 on the last end but the gap was too wide to close and Hook took the win. Mandy and Fran played Pairs and also started well, with 3 on the first end. Hook came back with 2 on the second but the home side rallied again, taking 3 on the third, 1 on the fourth, 3 on the fifth and 2 on the sixth. East Williamston started the seventh end with a 10 shot lead but Hook were now used to the mat and their lead player was drawing to the jack more consistently and, in doing so, started to chip away at the home sides advantage, taking 1 on the seventh, 1 on the eighth, 3 on the ninth, 1 on the tenth and 3 on the eleventh. Going into the final end Hook were one shot behind and were looking to get two for the win. They were holding two but East Williamston’s final bowl curled in to cut the visitors down to 1 and they had to settle for the draw. Kym, Cliff and Sharon played Triples. The visitors struck first, taking 1 on the first and 1 on the second. East Williamston replied with 2 on the third and 1 on the fourth, to creep into the lead. Another 1 to the home side on the sixth but disaster struck, for the home team, on the seventh end as, with very few bowls on the mat, Hook were holding six. East Williamston tried to break up the pack but unfortunately it didn't quite land and Hook doubled their score, adding a further 3 on the eighth. East Williamston did not give up, successfully taking 1 on the ninth and 1 on the final end but the seventh end had proved the decider. Dai, Stephen, Steve and Phill P played Rinks and with some great drawing shots, took 1 on the first end. Hook instantly replied with 4 on the second and 2 on the third. The home side took 2 on the fourth to narrow the gap, but another 2 on the fifth and 1 on the sixth extended Hooks lead further. Despite the visitors exerting heavy pressure on the home side, East Williamston played a good drawing game, and with bowls flying in all directions Hook could not disrupt things. East Williamston took another 2 on the seventh, 1 on the sixth and 1 on the final end, closing the gap, but just finishing short of taking the points. Despite the overall result, all games were played really well by everyone and East Williamston never gave up. East Williamston regrouped and took 2 back on the second but as the hall warmed up the fast mat just got even faster and things just weren’t going the way of East Williamston as Lamphey successfully pinched the next three ends with 1 shot each and 2 shots on the sixth end. The last end finally favoured East Williamston who were holding 1 on the ditch line when their last bowl neatly came down to remove the Lamphey bowl to take 2 but unfortunately it was too late to catch the home side who took the win. Playing Triples were Paula, John and Cliff but as East Williamston again struggled to gauge the mat the home side took 1 on the first and 2 on the second.
