East Williamston Short Mat Bowls Club
There has been a short mat bowls club at East Williamston Community Hall since 2003. Initially called St Elidyr SMBC, it changed its name to East Williamston SMBC in 2017.
Today the Club has a membership of 22 and welcomes new members of all levels. Short Mat Bowls is played on two mats at the Community Hall, with "roll up" practice sessions held twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday Evenings from 7pm-9pm.
Our practice sessions are open to anyone to come along and have a go, or you can just watch if you’re shy! All you need to have a go is a pair of flat soled indoor shoes or slippers or even just a pair of socks; we have everything else you need plus we have experienced members of the club to help you out. We even have a qualified Pembrokeshire coach on hand who has successfully developed some of our newer players to International standard, who have since represented Wales at the Ladies British Isles Competitions. Some of our members have also progressed to become qualified Umpires, so there are lots of opportunities for everyone.
We have a broad age range of members and we welcome every one, of all abilities and ages, to come along and have a go. We are not just a bowls club, we are an integral part of the community and regularly hold social events for our members and their families.
We play in two Pembrokeshire Short Mat Bowls Association leagues, cup competitions and there are also opportunities to take part in league and county tournaments at the indoor bowls centre in Heatherton.
